Lost

It's been a long night in New York city

Feeling super stressed/overwhelmed like most college kids are (not my roommate she seems to be immune to college stress).

No I don't hate my roommate, shes just really immature sometimes, and has a fairly negative point of view and is super judgmental, but she doesn't flip out when I leave the room a mess (at least to my face).

I guess I'll just bitch about it all here. Yes this will be a whiney bitchy post, but if you finish this I might post a happy youtube video.

First I have 4 projects due after thanksgiving break. My one for Marketing is not even finished. Vi who decided to write the whole paper (around 20 pages) just started this week on it, it's due on Monday, if she finishes it like I hope she does, then good for her, if not well we're pretty much screwed. We also don't have the power point done (even though we don't present till Dec. 3) So I don't have my slides done yet, but I will hopefully have them finished by tomorrow.

Then I have to write a 3 page paper about clay/pottery and somehow make it for children, I was going to paint them to look like different characters that kids might like, Charlie brown one and Pongo.....

Then I have to remake my lemon bars and take pictures of me making them and put that into a power point.

And lets not forget that that whole holiday called Thanksgiving, which I'm not really that thankful for, sure I love my family but all of us, in just my house? IT will be insane! I will probably have more to bitch about then, especially the crap that my Aunt Robin will pull, I can only image what fresh hell she will bring with her on this visit.

I just learned that she said some pretty insulting things to my grandmother this summer, so insulting that my grandma refused to talk to her for 2 weeks. Don't know what she said, but my Grandma doesn't go around getting pissed off at everyone, you have to do something pretty extreme. I do know it had to with her memory issues, but I'm pretty sure there was probably a nicer way to word whatever Robin said..

Oh an how could I forget I have my last journal check due on tuesday. My Prof. Pretty much said if its not perfect we're screwed.

I also stupidly decided to apply for a job at Pier 1 and then do an interview and now I'm waiting to hear back on their decision for it, but Assistant Manager who interviewed me made it seem rather clear that I needed to be here for christmas in order to get the job, which I won't be.

Bangs head on wall.

Theres more for me to bitch about, but I've decided to take my anger out by working out. It'll help me relax some, I think, or at least release some rage.

Heres the video I chose, okay its just an ad for Mighty Boosh, but I love the Mighty Boosh

Amused

Update on Life part dos and this time Its real ;)

I'm bored, so I'm going to write an entry. Update on my life, it's busy.

I'm debating whether to continue with 5 classes per semester or go to 4. I really want to get a job for next semester. I need the experience. I'm pretty sure I'll continue with 5 classes, I love college, but at the same time I'm growing sick of it.

I'm also looking at living at the apartments that are on campus, I would love to have my own room, the dorm things fun and all, but I hate not having my own room. My roomie goes to be so early like 10:30 ish and I like to stay up till 11:30 maybe 12 and I have a heavier work load than she does so I don't think she understands why I need to stay up that late.

I guess I'm at the point in the semester when I just want it all to be over...

Ummm good news? Well I've managed to not gain any weight while away at college (well I've at least lost the weight that I gained when I first got here) , so thats good. I maintain it by not eating the mystery meat, the bacteria infested pasta or undercooked desserts. I take my chances on the salad bar, fruit and pizza, sometimes if I feeling adventurous I get a sandwich. I also go work out at least 4-5 times a week, nothing too extreme. It's a good way to relieve stress and clear my head when I'm working on big projects and stuff.

I can't wait until the semester is over though. I've got a couple books I need to read Libba Bray's Going Bovine and the last Georgia Book. Although I have been reading parts of Bright Star before bed, but those are just incredibly romantic letters that John Keats wrote, so I don't count that.

Anyways I'm getting tired, so I'm gonna go to bed. Love you guys

Ferris Wheel

(no subject)

So this is probably long overdue.

I'm at TWU, and while I don't love it, I do like it, it's nice. There are of course things I don't like about it, like the food, that it's hot here a lot, that I have to sleep on the top bunk, and that my closet is awful and I really hate Denton water, it's not soft, but it's not nearly as hard as McKinney's, I'm also convinced that it has a lot of chlorine in it.

I miss my friends a lot though, but I'm not lonely. I've made a couple of friends here, and I've really lucked out on my roommates, we're all very easy going. And I've met other friends through them, I've also made a couple of friends through my fashion classes, so thats good.

Ahhh My classes. Nothing seems like it's going to hard, sure there will be days I say it's hard, but not really. A good example is how I overreacted to my math class, I think I was freaked out by the title of it 'Quantative Literacy' but it's not difficult, it's very logical, I just have to think logically, but not over think, this is not an over-think class, it's simple, I can do it.

Fashion Marketing is cool, the fashion and textiles chair teaches the class and we're basically learning everything about the business side of fashion. We also learn how to predict fashion and other things like that. Our 2 big projects are a fashion trend board and a big group project were we go to different stores and compare there dresses or skirts or whatever.

Textiles may be the end of me. I couldn't figure out why I hate the class so, I knew it had something to do with my Prof. and I finally figured it out today, he reminds of me Al Gore and Dick Cheney. Err he looks like Dick Cheney, but acts like Al Gore (who I cannot stand, that man is so full of himself and he spreads all sorts of nonsensical environmental facts that are not facts it's just a a bunch of bs that was not researched and.. I'll end that there, Just know I hate him). So textiles will be fun.

Fashion Accessories (as I'm now calling it), is about accessories for fashion and for home furnishings (think lamps). It's fairly easy, she's trying to freak us out with these 'Abstracts' (as she calls them), it's a one page summary on an article about accessories, nothing hard.

Clothing class (which is what I'm going to call this class) is all about clothing, the planing, the making the styles all that stuff. It's easy, but my prof. is kind of like a Martha Stewart, she's very much into perfection of everything, but she reminds me of the fashion designer from the Incredibles.

Other than that I've been trying to keep myself busy. Like by getting a job. My Aunt Terri knows someone who manages the Nordstorms at NorthPark and one of her good friends used to work at the Nordstroms in Frisco (her friend left on good terms). So I might try to get a job at Nordstroms (which I would LOVE! Imagine the discount I would get =P). It would also be a good experience.

Right well I'll try to update this more often! Love you guys!!!!

Writer's Block: The Right to Privacy

Should some parts of celebrities' lives be off-limits to the public, or is giving up privacy a fair price for being famous?

View 513 Answers

Yeah, of course, everyone needs they're privacy, those who don't have privacy, didn't set up proper peramitors with the media before hand. For example celebrities who have reality tv shows, they're basically showing every aspect of their lives willingly. So why should the media not ask them questions about their marriage and home life, they gave up the right to have privacy when they decided to show their lives to the public. Some celebrities do well at keeping their private lives private. Ryan Reynolds and Scarlet Jo are perfect examples of this, they are both big time celebrities involved in very popular movies, but we know very little of their private life together, because they chose to have it that way.

But I think once you kind of let people and the media break down more of your life it's hard to reign it in and get control over what's published. And I do realize that the media is constantly searching for more dirt to find on people, but I think if you do things right, you can have a public and private life.

I hope this isn't repetitive, I'm really tired, but wanted to write something to distract myself.

Book Survey

1) What author do you own the most books by?
I have like 9 or 10 Gail Carson Levine Books, they're all so cute I can't help myself

2) What book do you own the most copies of?
Emma/persuasion, Emma was on accident I thought I didn't own it, but turns out I did and Persuasion is only because I wanted to buy Northanger Abbey and it was a part of it.

3) Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions?
Nope, I like prepositions, and loathe grammer

4) What fictional character are you secretly in love with?
Roiben from Tithe, although thats not so much a secret I also love George Weasley.

5) What book have you read the most times in your life (excluding picture books read to children; i.e., Goodnight Moon does not count)?
The Two Princess of Bamarre, it's my FAVORITE story ever, Romance, action, death! Quite exciting, also Rhys makes me rather happy.

6) What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
I didn't read when I was ten, I hated reading when I was ten, mostly because I had to be in a special Reading class. Whatever Dublin you people are crazy.

7) What is the worst book you've read in the past year?'
I don't even remeber the title, but I was really excited because I thought it would be a story about Napoleon and Josephine, but it was about Napoleon having an affair with some fictional character, I was quite upset with it.

8) What is the best book you've read in the past year?
I read 'The Doll's House' by Ibsen, although thats a play, but I really liked it. I've mostly read short stories, like 'The Fall of the House of Usher' by Poe, scary...I did read Gilgamesh, and I really liked that.... If you want a less intellectual book I did read the twilight series and though it's not exceptional writing or anything it is addictive.

9) If you could force everyone you tagged to read one book, what would it be?
The Virgin Suicides. It will change your life and the way you read books and the way you want to read them.

10) Who deserves to win the next Nobel Prize for Literature?
Neil Gaiman! Although he probably won't win and I don't like to read stuff thats too smart.

11) What book would you most like to see made into a movie?
A Great and Terrible Beauty, the whole trilogy, it would be nice to see some smart women on the screen.

12) What book would you least like to see made into a movie?
The Two Princes of Bamarre, since Disney practically owns Levine now, they would just ruin it by casting someone like Demi Lovato to play Addie or just I don't know pull a Ella Enchanted and just rewrite the whole story.

13) Describe your weirdest dream involving a writer, book, or literary character.
How about my dream last night where all Harry Potter was using Kung-fu instead of a wand or magic....

14) What is the most lowbrow book you've read as an adult?
I can't really answer the question, since a good majority of my books are unintelligent

15) What is the most difficult book you've ever read?
Notes from the Underground, I hated reading that because I loathed the main character. Also couldn't stand Scarlet Letter because the sentences never seemed to end.

16) What is the most obscure Shakespeare play you've seen?
Macbeth, It was for a UIL One Act, you can't really do shakespeare in one act, it just doesn't make sense

17) Do you prefer the French or the Russians?
French

18) Roth or Updike?
errr both, okay I don't really know who they are

19) David Sedaris or Dave Eggers?
Eggers, but only because he did the screenplay for Away we Go

20) Shakespeare, Milton, or Chaucer?
Shakespeare hands down, I love him!

21) Austen or Eliot?
Austen, but thats a given. Eliot has me lost a lot.

22) What is the biggest or most embarrassing gap in your reading?
The last book I read was in March, thats kind of sad.

23) What is your favorite novel?
I can't choose it really depends on my mood, thought I love Tithe, The Two Princes of Bamarre, The Virgin Suicides and Mr. Mayber

24) Play?
I love to read plays, I guess I love shakespeares the best, like Othello or Midsummer Nights Dream, but I do like Sweeny Todd and a Raisin in the Sun

25) Poem?
Song by John Donne, I know hes a weird fellow and all, but that poem haunts me.

26) Essay?
Any essay by Mark Twain he is so clever

27) Short story?
Hills like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway, not my favorite author, but I love how he uses dialogue between the two characters to tell this really emotional story.

28) Work of nonfiction?
Marie Antoinette by Antonia Fraser, its not super boring and I happen to Love Marie Antoinette, like a weird obsession. Also My Booky Wook by Russell Brand is hilarious, although his life is rather sad

29) Who is your favorite writer?
Jane Austen, JK Rowling, Jane Green, Gail Carson Levine, Lloyd Alexander, Holly Black, Joyce Carol Oates, Libba Bray

30) Who is the most overrated writer alive today?
I hate to say it but I will, Stephanie Meyers. She's not that good a writer, her stories are kind of weird and unoriginal, but I will giver her credit, she know how to write a story and keep good pace.

31) What is your desert island book?
Complete Collection of Grimms Brothers Fairytales, I don't think I would ever be bored with that book.

32) And... what are you reading right now?
Howl's Moving Castle, it's another one of my favorites that I of course forgot to mention.

33) (That's right, I'm adding one!) What's next on your to-read list?
I need to finish City of Bones, I guess I'm just stuck an uninteresting part or something, but it's just not doing it for me.

I was going to make an angry post about how illiterate Kanye West is and how he should not be aloud to speak in public. Then question why he is a public figure at all, and also at the same time hope that some big music star of some sort at least claims to like reading so the younger generation keeps reading, but I gave up. Mostly because it would just be a rant that would probably not make any sense and would prove to have many errors. So I'm going to stick to stuff that doesn't let rant angrily.

So here is something I found on Live Journal

"The problem with Livejournal is that we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. Hence, I want you to ask me something you want to know about me. Then post this in your LJ if you like and find out what people don't know about you."

So go ahead my peeps and ask away.

Today was better, mostly because I was less over dramatic. I do like to be over dramatic though, it's quite fun.

Going to pretty myself up tomorrow and search for jobs at the Mall. I know Steve Madden is hiring and so is Jessica McClinton (that awesome store with all the pretty dresses I want to buy but don't have the money to afford or the reason to even have one).

Anyways day started out pretty funny, I picked up Anya because our plan was to get my tires rotated, work out and bring her sister lunch. That was until I found out my two front tires needed to be replaced so we took care of that and it took like an hour and a half (also the guy that helped us was just like Jonah Hill's character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall no lie), then we decided to go over and get Lexi her lunch, but not before we picked up pictures for me mom. We got chipotle, Anya ran it inside and we then decided to go to get my transcript. We didn't see anyone we knew until we came outside where we ran into Marshall.....

We never went to work out.

Then I dropped Anya off, took a quick shower and went to my Dentist appointment got my teeth cleaned. Went over to Anya's after that and we came up with some good ideas for my video for G4, also got most of the Weekly Top 5 written...

The other stuff is boring, went to lowes with Taylor and we also walked around Best Buy. That only made me feel worse because I wanted to buy everything in there.

And now I'm home, I need to clean my room, but I may just wait until tomorrow because it's really not that bad I just need to make my bed is all.

Speaking of bed..... I'm gonna sleep

Queen is Bored

Girl Power and all other stuff!

Whiney Girl Band Anya told me to listen too, and now of course I love them. They fit how feel At the moment perfectly.

Also love this song, called Monday, Monday, Monday

umm basically after that whole starbucks show down, Joel still hasn't responded to my message, isn't that weird? It's like if your interested in me, pursue me, I've already done the hard part by sending a message, thats a pretty big sign that I'm interested and then your not going to respond? Thats the easy part " Thursday a 7" or whatever, *eye roll*I don't know why he's being like this, and I'm starting to feel pretty pathetic. so Anya gave me wonderful advice to basically forget him and not worry about it because I deserve better, and she's right I do. We all deserve someone who will return messages, who will be there for us. Someone who will sing My Cherie Amour to us and mean it. So don't feel bad if you haven't found that someone, it just takes some time, besides you don't want to waste your time on some loser.

Also posting these 2 videos because they're pretty funny.

hahah my epic AOTS fail

Kind of fail, but mostly really awesome. I really think this captures the essence of me, you know just the fact that I would submit a plan that would eventually fail. (not in an angsty way, more in a funny way)

In other news, tonight Trey and I went to grab some coffee at starbucks ( I think this is becoming a weekly thing, funny). Anyways as we were sitting down I was going to explain to him about the whole Joel situation, how I had sent him a fb message earlier and how he hadn't responded. So right then guess who walks in, Joel.

He came over and gave me a hug and then Trey introduced himself and Joel said "hey sorry I haven't gotten back to you yet, I've been really busy" and I said "Oh yeah no problem" and so as he went to go get his drink I asked him to join us and he did.

So he goes and orders his drink and then comes back over and Trey and I are in those big comfy chairs that have the like end table between us right. So Joel brings up a chair and sits not in the middle of us, but right next to me putting his arm on my armrest. So we talk for a good 20-30 minutes and finally he gets up to leave to finish on his project and I say bye and he shakes hands with Trey and as he leaves Trey says "Man he has a strong handshake"

It wasn't until Trey and I were in the car did I realize that I never once tell Joel that Trey was my best friends boyfriend. This then made me start to analyze his body language, he never looked comfortable the whole time, Trey said he was being kind of possesive by sitting next to me and using my arm rest as a modern day territory marker. And the firm handshake, obviously was much firmer than usual was to be used to make Trey back off. Isn't that hilarious, he's totally jealous, and I plan to use this to my advantage, maybe after seeing me with Trey he'll hope on the bandwagon and try to reel me in. (Those are really southern sayings)

I just find the whole thing highly amusing, because I've tried to picture encountering Joel and never did I think it would happen there, while I was wearing jeans and an SNL t-shirt with my converse on (to be fair converse rock).

I also would like to point out that I did sound witty and clever for the most part and at no point was I tongue tied or did I make an awkward comment. So YAY me!

So a pretty awesome day, featured on one of my favorite shows AOTS and running into a longtime crush.

PSA for Domestic Violence Against Women

After the whole Rihanna and Chris Brown thing, American's have been talking about Domestic violence, while we've been waiting for Rihanna to speak out about what happened or at least take some sort of action, the British took their chance to release a PSA.

This one is directed by Joe Wright and stars Kiera Knightly (naturally). It's very intense, but it gets the point across. And I think it's about time. So here it is

On a brighter note, I've started coming up with my T.V. Series. So far I have names, but I'm not sure that I like them so much for the characters themselves, so I'll have to look into that. Right now It's Olive and Emma. Olive the outspoken one, who doesn't take crap from men. She's a bit fickle in what she stands for and usually chooses to contradict herself. For example she's against Leather and other forms of using animal skin for clothing and such, but will eat a rack of ribs or she argues that emissions of CO2 coming from lawnmowers is bad for the environment and yet continues to drive her car all over. Things like that. Olive also cannot resist and bet or challange. Emma is a the vain one, who likes to look perfect all the time, she shops a lot, and usually ends up soothing those who have been verbally attacked by Olive. Her one flaw is that when she begins to talk to guys who she's interested in, she can't talk about anything normal, Emma tends to talk about hitler or other dictators and the horrible gruesome things they did... which weirds those poor boys out.

Anyways Olive and Emma decide to start there own "lawncare/window washing/ pet walking " company called EO, which gives some comedy to the show. The only problem is there not that good at it, and they have a rival group called Baker Care, which consist of Ted Baker and his two lackeys Jed and Ned. All three are major nerds, but not much better at work.

I thought for some comic relief, Olive could have a boyfriend that she bosses around, but I don't know if she should at first. Also think it would be funny if Ted had a crush on Emma, and sort of see how that plays out. Like maybe have Ted issue a challange with Olive to see who could make more money in one day and that if he won he got at date with Emma and if they won, they got the better paying jobs, something like that.

Ohhh and Of course we have to have a really hot guy whom both Olive and Emma melt over. Still have to figure that out... Still have to figure a lot out, but anyways off to eat lunch and stuff. Adios!
